Establishing Shot

Environment design for Daniel’s room, a metaphor for his state of mind. The room is a prison cell without a lock, just as the raven is trapped in a cage with an open door, yet it still does not escape. It likes the comfort found in its chains.

The King's Game

The chess board depicts a game in its final stage, the opposing side (black) standing strong and protecting their people against the glass king, caught between both sides. His comrades, if he can call them that, fallen. What side does he stand on?

Keepsakes

The book he wrote to his sister but never gave her. A portrait of her, his supposed victim. A poem he wrote to clear his mind that will never be read.

The Raven

The raven is imprisoned in a cage with the door wide open, its back turned. The room itself has an open gate, too, juxtaposed to that of the cage.

Fly Away

The main light source is the candle shaped like an angel, his sister. She casts light but is also the cause for the shadow. His chair towers over her like a throne, but no oppression can dim her light.

The Portrait

To those who enter the room, she must seem like a target. He is obsessed with taking her life - at least on the outside.

Old Game

The old game of chess hand crafted by his sister is covered by a rifle.
